MP Kesari Desk: Moving closer to absolute energy self-reliance, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has launched E85 Ethanol-Blended Fuel for specialized Flex-Fuel Vehicles (FFVs).
This advanced automotive fuel grade consists of an aggressive 85% ethanol blend mixed with 15% gasoline, presenting a sustainable alternative to conventional fossil fuels.
Slashing Crude Oil Import Bills and Vehicle Emissions
Automotive giants like Maruti Suzuki, Toyota, and Tata Motors have already demonstrated compliant prototype engines optimized for this high-blend profile.
By transitioning commercial fleets to homegrown bio-ethanol derived from sugarcane surplus and agricultural waste, India aims to displace billions in petroleum import expenses.
Moreover, the mass rollout of E85 cuts tailpipe carbon monoxide emissions by up to 30%, marking a massive milestone in India's net-zero transition.
